Mid-Autumn After Eleven: The Night Is Not Over

Mid-Autumn dinner always runs longer than anyone planned. The plates went back an hour ago, the tea is on its third pot, the same story has come round again, and nobody wants to be the first to stand up. By the time you are out on the pavement the moon is enormous and your phone says twenty to twelve. The evening looks finished. Half the street has already pulled its shutters down.

Mid-Autumn lands on 25 September in 2026, and the second half of that night does not need much planning. It needs one thing: somewhere that is still open at this hour.

Nothing here closes at midnight

Empire Sauna is open 24 hours. Therapists are on shift from 14:00 until 06:00 the following morning. Those are two separate facts and we keep them that way: the door never shuts, the shift has a beginning and an end. Since the start of September the shift has begun at 14:00 rather than 17:00, so the whole afternoon is covered as well.

Which means that walking out of a restaurant at twenty to twelve is not late at all. There are hours left on the shift. You do not have to cut dinner short for anyone, and you do not have to decide anything on the pavement.

What the rest of the night looks like

The car stops at the door and the clock stops mattering. Clothes into the locker, straight through to the bath hall, hot water climbing up your back until the heaviness of a long dinner lets go faster than you expected. The house is a new fit-out in modern luxury: marble, warm copper and wood, an Eastern-zen calm folded into a contemporary room. Late at night the lighting sits low and the corridors are quiet.

One thing worth knowing before you come: a session’s minutes are counted from the moment the therapist begins. Reception, the locker room and the bath hall are not part of it. Inside opening hours that time is simply yours, which is exactly what a late Mid-Autumn arrival needs. Soak first, look at the rooms afterwards.

The signature waterbed room and the hotel-grade theme suites are the two faces of the house. A waterbed moves under you and holds you in a way no ordinary mattress does; the theme suites are built to hotel spec, roomier, each with its own bathroom. You can also stay the night. There are paid private rest rooms in the house, with the price and the hours quoted to you when you book. At three or four in the morning nobody has to think about getting back to a hotel, which is the plainest benefit of a place that never closes.

Dinner ran late. Is half past eleven too late to come?

No. Empire Sauna is open 24 hours and the same team receives you at midnight as at dusk. Therapists are on shift until 06:00, so that hour is still well inside the shift.

If I want a Macau sauna that is still open on Mid-Autumn night, how much do I have to decide first?
